James has taught many students over the years of all ages and abilities, from those who have never touched an accordion, to advanced players. He taught at the Orkney Traditional Music Project for a number of years, leading three very successful accordion classes. He is recognised for his relaxed and patient approach to teaching and also his endless enthusiasm for music, the accordion and the success of his students. In 2016, James left the Orkney Traditional Music Project to pursue his own musical ventures, handing over his role to Sandy Brechin and Karen Tweed. Since then, he has continued to teach privately and is working on a number of educational based projects.
